Assurance Wireless – owned by T-Mobile – is a phone service company that participates in the Lifeline Assistance program. Assurance Wireless, like other Lifeline Assistance associated providers, must offer a minimum level of phone service.
Customers who qualify for the program can expect to have at least:
1000 minutes of cell phone usage; A data plan with mobile internet speed of 3G or better; 4.5 GB of data per month; Speed of 25/3 Mbps and usage of at least 1230 GB per month for home internet
Unlike some other providers, though, Assurance doesn’t offer a free phone. However, participating customers can bring their own phone to the plan, which can significantly cut costs.
You can check the compatibility of your current device on the Assurance Wireless website. Plus, most phone numbers can be transferred, meaning you don’t need to change what you already have.
You can purchase extra minutes and data if you need more. Additional services cost the following:
- $5 for 250 additional voice minutes each month
- 10¢ each additional voice minute
- $1 for 100MB data for 30 service days
- $3 for 500MB data for 30 service days
- $5 for 1GB data for 30 service days
- $10 for 2GB data for 30 service days
- $20 for 4GB data for 30 service days
- $30 for 5GB data for 30 service days
